Jan 1, 2026 - Course Changes resulting from CA Assembly Bill 943 (AB 943)
As a result of California Assembly Bill 943 (AB 943) that is effective on January 1, 2026, we have made the following changes to our courses to better serve our students:
-
COURSE NAMES - Most course names have been changed to eliminate the references to minimum time requirements and to match the license and examination names used by the CDI and PSI Exams. The course names have been changed as follows . . .
OLD COURSE
NEW COURSE
32-hr CA Life-Only Agent
Life
32-hr CA Accident & Health Agent
Accident and Health or Sickness
52-hr CA Life & Health Agent
Life, Accident and Health or Sickness
52-hr CA Property & Casualty Broker-Agent
Property & Casualty
32-hr CA Personal Lines Broker-Agent
Personal Lines
12-hr CA Code & Ethics
(No changes have been made to this stand-alone course. It will remain available for those rare instances where needed (e.g. out-of-state agent moving to CA and needs a resident license).
CODE & ETHICS - All courses now include a 12-hr CA Code & Ethics section in the beginning for those students who need to satisfy this requirement. If the student has previously satisfied the state's 12-hr CA Code & Ethics requirement, they will have the ability to skip this section and move on to other parts of the course. However, if some time has passed since the student studied the Code & Ethics material, we highly recommend they review the material as Code & Ethics questions are included in ALL state insurance exams.
UNLOCKED COURSES - All courses are now "unlocked" meaning the student can take the course modules in any order they choose. And since the certificate of completion requirements have been eliminated for prelicensing courses, it is no longer mandatory that modules be completed. (The exception to this is that the 12-hr CA Code & Ethics section will be "locked" since its completion will result in a certificate of completion being issued.)
DANGER!!! DANGER!!! - With the "unlocking" of the courses, we realize that many students will be tempted to skip the core course content and jump directly to the practice exams at the end of their courses in hopes that they can just memorize questions and then go and pass the state exam. This approach will be disastrous for most students and result in failing the state exam. While a few people might be able to pull it off, most will not. We encourage students to take advantage of the course material in its entirety so that they will be well-prepared to pass the state exam on their first attempt. We hope managers and recruiters will do the same.
CERTIFICATES OF COMPLETION - Effective Jan. 1st, 2026 Certificates of Completion will ONLY be issued for the 12-hr CA Code & Ethics portion of a prelicensing course.
