How long do I have to apply for an insurance license after earning my Certificate of Completion?
A Certificate of Completion is valid for three years from the date issued. The expiration date can be found on the Certificate of Completion. (See example Certificate below)
A valid (unexpired) Certificate of Completion is needed for the CA Department of Insurance (CDI) to issue an insurance license. (Additionally, you will have had to have passed the state insurance exam within one year of applying for the insurance license.)
At the time a Certificate of Completion is issued, the completion information is electronically sent to the CDI and will be reviewed by an analyst when processing an applicant's licensing application (FLASH App).
If your Certificate of Completion has expired, but you need a valid one in order to apply for your insurance license, please see the following FAQ article: https://upwardbound.helpsite.com/articles/111147-certificate-of-completion-is-expired-how-do-i-get-a-new-one
