CDI needs copy of Certificate of Completion to issue my license. What do I do?

If you've submitted your licensing application (FLASH App) and the CDI has contacted you saying that they cannot continue processing the application because there is no record of your prelicensing course(s) having been completed, then you'll need to complete the following two steps to correct the issue. 


STEP 1 - CONFIRM CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION HAS BEEN ISSUED

 You can confirm your Certificate of Completion has been issued by doing the following: 

  1. Log into your Upward Bound account
  2. Click on the STUDY NOW button (or VIEW HISTORY button if your course access has expired)
  3. Click the gray CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION button located beneath the progress bars towards the top of the page

If your Certificate of Completion has NOT been issued, then you need to get it issued. As a reminder, ALL modules in the prelicensing course must be in a "Completed" of "Passed" status (including practice exams) AND the minimum time requirement for the specific course must be satisfied (e.g. 52 hours, 40 hours, 32 hours, etc). Also, make sure you've clicked on the gray Certificate of Completion button to submit your electronic signature in the affidavit. 

Once the Certificate of Completion has been issued, you'll need to follow the instructions in STEP 2 below. 

Even if your Certificate of Completion had already been issued, you'll still need to follow the instructions in STEP 2 below. 


STEP 2 - EMAIL YOUR CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION TO THE CDI 

  1. Print out your Certificate of Completion from your Upward Bound account
  2. Sign and Date the Certificate of Completion
  3. Email the Certificate of Completion to Licdocuments@insurance.ca.gov 
  4. Follow up a few days later with the CDI to be sure they received your email from the previous step

(Note: Upward Bound is unable to help with this fix as the Certificate of Completion needs to be sent to the CDI by the student (i.e. you))
